The 5 step plan to writing
Plan, Compose and Record, Revise, Edit, Publish
Plan
In this stage you develop and plan your idea (use an mindmap or wordle to help you)
Compose and Record
In this stage you begin composing your ideas
• Begin composing your sentences
• Make sure your sentences make sense
• Ensure your message is clear and succinct (don’t go on and on)
• Use paragraphs to organise your ideas
Revise
This is where you can add more detail to your writing. Capture your audience!
Edit
Some tips when editing you writing
• Use Capital letters for proper nouns (names of persons, places, or certain special things)
• Use Capital letters for titles ( movies, books)
• Use Capital letters to begin a sentence.
• Punctuate your writing (capital letters, commas, and full stops, exclamation marks, question marks etc)
• Use paragraphs to organise your ideas
• Ensure your message is clear and succinct ( don’t go on and on and on)
• Make sure your sentences make sense.
• Proofread your posts
• Get a friend to proof read it too!
Check your spelling
• make sure frequently used words are spelled correctly
• use a dictionary, wordlist, …spellcheck… but don’t be fooled!
• do NOT use abbreviations or abbreviated text
